General AfroTech Conference (10)

AfroTech Conference 2021 will take place Monday, November 8 – Saturday, November 13, 2021. AfroTech Conference will be hosted virtually via a downloadable immersive digital campus full of programming stages, expo booths, special activations, and more! In addition, we’ll host in-person events in LA (AT Executive). The events will be held in a safe and COVID-complaint manner to protect our staff and attendees. Our partners will also be hosting digital and in-person events in select cities leading up to the conference.

  • Tuesday, November 9 – Attendee Orientation
  • Wednesday, November 10 – Conference Kick Off & Engineering & Design + Expo Hall Open
  • Thursday, November 11 – Founders & Startups Programming + Partner Events + Expo Hall Open
  • Friday, November 12 – Corporate Leadership + Partner Events + Expo Hall Open
  • Saturday, November 13 – Entertainment + Partner Events

The schedule will be updated online as speakers are confirmed. Be sure to follow AfroTech’s social media to be the first to see our speaker announcements.

All official AfroTech events will be added to our website as they are confirmed. Some events will be ticketed and/or require an RSVP. 

#AfroTech2021

AfroTech Conference and all associated programming and events will be live-streamed, and photos and videos will be taken. Blavity reserves the right to use any photograph/video without the expressed written permission of those included within the photograph/video. Blavity may use the photograph/video in publications or other media material produced, used or contracted by Blavity including but not limited to: brochures, invitations, books, newspapers, magazines, television, websites, etc. By submitting your AfroTech Conference registration, you agree to allow Blavity, Inc. to use and share your contact information with the AfroTech Conference partners. As such, you may receive communications directly from the partner.

The expo hall hours are as follows:

  • Wednesday, November 10th from 12:00-4:00pm PST
    • Special Recruiting Hours* – Wed. 8:00am-12:00pm PST
  • Thursday, November 11th from 8:00am-4:00pm PST
  • Friday, November 12th from 8:00am-2:00pm PST

Please note all times are in the Pacific time zone.

*Recruiting hours are the time we invite attendees who are seriously looking for new roles to come to the expo halls when there is a little less traffic to encourage recruiters to have longer 1:1 conversations

During these times, you are responsible for staffing your expo hall booth, skybox, interview pod, networking session/area, or lounge. You are also responsible for scheduling any interviews you wish to have with candidates at the conference.

The expo hall and all of its areas will be closed Monday, November 8 through Tuesday, November 9.

With a Naming Rights purchase, you have the option to host an in-person offsite event at your own discretion. We encourage our sponsors to hold these in a safe and COVID-complaint manner to protect our staff and attendees.

Booth Designs (10)

Please utilize the “Booth Design” page in the Sponsor Portal to upload your booth content.

We have curated guides and video tutorials to walk you through your booth/sponsored space design. Walkthroughs will be provided via email where the AT Design team will send videos providing guidance on questions submitted by your team. We will also be available to assist via email with your follow-up questions. The guides will be available in the corresponding booth design and sponsored space (or non-booth) landing pages. In addition, we will provide renderings of your sponsored area for your review, comment, and approval prior to going live at the conference. You may see more on booths and sponsor spaces here.

Note: If you are a Platinum – Premium sponsor, our CS team will coordinate a call to review assets.

You may include job postings or links to video content in your booth. The main screen, or kiosk in your booth, can be hyperlinked to any external link of your choosing.

We suggest that the interview pod screen displays your logo image, and includes a hyperlink to your careers page, any video content you’d like to share, or any other external link of your choosing.

Within the booth, there is the option to include (1) hyperlink at the kiosk, the header and the main screens. These can all be the same link or different. During last year’s conference a good portion of sponsors linked out to their website, careers page, PR articles, contact intake forms, and giveaways.

Hero images are the large web banner images that are on a company’s website/approved for marketing/recruitment/events. These images are included in the booth main screens. We recommend high res images, each file should be 1mb-2mb max, Ai, png, jpg format.

Following the asset deadline (9/6), renders will be uploaded under the render page, please check the “RENDERING” page on the left nav starting (10/4).

Registration & Ticketing (9)

There are two ticket levels available for AfroTech Conference:

  • General Admission: General Admission tickets are available for the public to purchase. All conference attendees must be 18+ years old. General Admission tickets include: 
    • Access to all general conference programming.
    • Access to the AfroTech Conference Expo Floor.
    • Opportunity to submit a resume to the official AfroTech Resume Book.
    • Opportunity to register for partner events.
    • Access to official conference communications.
  • Corporate: Corporate tickets are available for the public to purchase. All conference attendees must be 18+ years old. Corporate tickets include: 
    • Same benefits of the General Admission ticket level.
    • Access to Corporate-Only networking, exclusive programming & entertainment
    • Discount code to Blavity’s merch shop & more
    • Access to all General conference programming.
    • Access to the AfroTech Conference Expo Floor.
    • Opportunity to submit a resume to the official AfroTech Resume Book.
    • Opportunity to register for partner events.
    • Access to official conference communications.

Yes, corporate tickets have access to the entire conference, including special exclusive offerings specific to their ticket level.

Conference ticket passes are non-refundable, however, they are transferable online up until November 1, 2021. To transfer your ticket, please visit our attendee login webpage to update the ticket holder information to the individual that you are transferring your ticket to. Refunds will not be provided for “no-shows”.

For additional ticket purchases outside of your SOW, please purchase using your promo code via the sponsor portal “Register Employees” tab to receive 10% off each Corporate ticket. If you are having difficulty purchasing additional tickets or if you would like to purchase tickets in bulk, please reach out to registration@blavity.com for assistance.

Conference tickets must be purchased using a valid credit or debit card. For bulk ticket orders, you may request a PO please contact registration@blavity.com for assistance.

If you have a promo code, you must apply it at the time of your registration prior to submitting payment. Promo codes cannot be applied after registration payment has been confirmed and only one (1) promo code can be applied per registration.

No, the AfroTech Conference ticket grants ticket holders access to the full AfroTech Conference week of programming and events (November 8-13, 2021). We do not offer day passes.

Expo Hall Information & Conference Platform Access (9)

The expo hall hours are as follows:

We will not make final booth assignments until late October. Feel free to share a list of any companies that you do not wish to be near, and we will do our best to place you in a different location. The Sponsor Open House will take place the week of 11/1

Yes, we will release onboarding guides in late October, which will include training videos, best practices, and walkthroughs of the campus.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to provide attendee contact information. However, you are able to share your own internal intake form within your booth or sponsored space to collect contact information for attendees you interact with at AfroTech Conference.

If you have specific firewall call outs please reach out to ATsponsordesign@blavity.com and afrotechcs@blavity.com to help support you as much as possible. The platform is a secured site and due to our partner’s privacy, we will have special firewalls set up to also ensure strong network performance.

Resume Book & Recruiting (9)

If your sponsorship includes access to the AfroTech Resume Book, you can access the resume book through the “Resume Book” page. Here is a link to a video tutorial on how to utilize the NEW and improved AfroTech Resume Book. If you need further assistance regarding the resume book, please reach out to afrotechcs@blavity.com.

Please note that our AfroTech Resume Book will continue to grow and new submissions will be added as attendees purchase tickets leading up to the conference. We are encouraging all attendees to submit their information to our database.

No, the resume book is not anonymous to allow for recruiters to be able to contact the potential candidates. 

Submissions in the AfroTech Resume Book are only to be used for your candidate pipeline leading up to AfroTech Conference. Our goal is to connect your team with potential hires. Their information CAN NOT be used for any other email communications or newsletters.

For questions about interview rooms or additional features, please contact our Partnerships Team at partnerships@blavity.com.

You are able to provide a scheduling link to attendees onsite at AfroTech Conference via private chat, or by including a scheduling link in your booth. We also encourage sponsors to pre-schedule interviews with candidates of interest upon reviewing the resume book.

Our AfroTech Resume Book is continuously growing and new submissions will be added as attendees purchase tickets leading up to the conference. We will be encouraging all attendees to submit their information to our database through strategic marketing and email communications leading up to the conference.

No, the number of entries in the resume book database is the number of ticket holders who’ve opted in to share their resumes with sponsors. Not all attendees submit. Please note you will see an influx of resumes by mid-October.

Offsite Partner Event Information (3)

  • Tuesday 11/9

  1. Naming rights: If your contract does not include “Naming Rights” you are not able to use the trademarked AfroTech name or Logo in your marketing material for any off-site events.
  2. Each official AfroTech partnered event must be contracted with Blavity Inc.
  3. All partnered events must be free of charge. 
  4. Events must be no more than 350 guests.
  5. Each event must be pre-approved by Blavity Inc.’s Events team
  6. All event marketing materials and logo usage must adhere to the AfroTech Brand Guidelines and be approved by Blavity Inc. no later than October 1st, 2021.

  7. Clients may not have unapproved signage at the event or at the conference.
  8. Blavity Inc. Events team must receive a registration/RSVP link to all partnered events no later than October 1st, 2021 to be added to the official schedule. Any late events may be subject to not being added to printed schedules or on site guides.
  9. All companies who have licensing rights in their contract are authorized to use AfroTech logo and branding for their official event. Any additional events outside of the ones in their contract are not authorized and will be considered a breach.
    1. First breach will receive a notification from your CS support and the logo and marketing materials will be required to be removed within 2 business days. If it is not removed then the company will be considered in breach of our agreement terms which may result in their participation at AfroTech cancelled.
    2. 2nd offense will be considered a breach of contract subject to fee and/or legal action
